Moderne MRI to investigate structure-function relationships in stroke patients

A multimodal longitudinal study on motor recovery in stroke patients with severe neurological deficits: Numerous imaging studies have focused on the impact of specific motor networks on functional recovery after stroke, especially in patients with relatively mild deficits. To what extent the previous findings can be transferred to severely affected patients remains unclear. In this project severely affected stroke patients undergo longitudinal and multimodal clinical and imaging assessment during recovery over 1 year. Imaging-based network data and clinical data are correlated, also with regard to the prediction of recovery. This project is intended to contribute to new findings in the reorganization of the brain after severe stroke.
