The Pediatric Endocrinology Education Program – Haiti (PEEP-H) is a pediatric subspecialty training program that will build capacity in pediatric endocrinology among health professionals at all levels of training in Haiti. The program is supported by the Pediatric Endocrine Society and the European Society for Pediatric Endocrinology, is led by the Haitian non-governmental organization Zanmi Lasante, and was created in collaboration with Haiti’s professional medical associations, medical schools, residency programs, and the Ministry of Health. 

The program’s objectives are:
(1) to establish a formal pediatric endocrinology curriculum for pediatric residents and medical students 
(2) to improve continuing medical education by providing regular educational conferences to members of the professional pediatric and generalist societies. 
(3) to establish remote pediatric endocrine consultation services, accessible to all health professionals in Haiti, and 
(4) to train the first Haitian pediatric endocrinologist. 

The program’s expected result is to establish the field of pediatric endocrinology in Haiti by: 
(1) Establishment and continuity of pediatric endocrine education at all levels of training. 
(2) Presence of a Haitian pediatric endocrinologist in-country which will ensure 
a. Reliable access to pediatric endocrine clinical care. 
b. Ongoing education of medical students, pediatric residents, and practicing physicians. 
(3) Initiation of an academic presence and research in pediatric endocrinology. 
(4) Improved ascertainment of patients with pediatric endocrine conditions.
