Project:

Prehabilitation in surgery aims to make patients resistant to possible harm and complications in the short term before programmed operation. This is achieved in particular through the targeted application of sports and exercise therapy interventions. As part of this research project, a digitized solution – which has never been developed to this extent before - with structured and risk-stratified data collection in the sense of strengthening patient autonomy is being developed and evaluated: the medical app for pre-habilitation. This app will allow for individual prehabilitation of the patients in compliance with the Medical Device Regulation (MDR), as well as data protection and data security aspects, and it is specifically decentralized from the hospital. This app solution will be validated under laboratory conditions and tested for safety. In addition, a usability test of the design is carried out in formative and summative form in a usability lab.
Our hypothesis is that the software is able to achieve a 85% correlation compared to a standardized ergometer, which implies sufficient safety for a decentral ambulatory use.
