Else Kröner Fresenius Center for Nutritional Medicine

The Else Kröner Fresenius Center for Nutritional Medicine was established in 2003 at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) and is the EKFS’s most significant individual activity to date.

Initially, three professorships in the fields of clinical, molecular and paediatric nutritional medicine were funded until 2014, which were dedicated to the following objectives:

  • combining experimental and clinical research,
  • developing concepts for the prevention, treatment of obesity, type 2 diabetes or cancer,
  • training, further education and patient information.

Healthy Eating During the COVID-19 Pandemic

How have children's eating, drinking and exercise habits changed since the beginning of the corona pandemic? Experts from the Else Kröner Fresenius Center for Nutritional Medicine at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) around Prof. Hans Hauner investigated this topic with the help of a survey conducted by the opinion research institute Forsa.
The study is the beginning of the new focus on “Childhood Nutrition” at the EKFZ. Since October, the EKFZ team has been strengthened by a cooperation with Prof. Berthold Koletzko, Else Kröner Senior Professorship.

Gesund essen – trotz Corona

Wie haben sich die Ess-, Trink-und Bewegungsgewohnheiten von Kindern seit Beginn der Corona-Pandemie verändert? Diesem Thema gingen Experten des Else Kröner Fresenius Zentrums für Ernährungsmedizin (EKFZ) an der Technischen Universität München (TUM) um Prof. Hans Hauner mithilfe einer Befragung durch das Meinungsforschungsinstitut Forsa nach.

Die Studie markiert den Startpunkt für den neuen Themenschwerpunkt „Ernährung im Kindesalter“ am EKFZ. Seit Oktober wird das Team des EKFZ durch eine enge Kooperation mit Prof. Berthold Koletzko, Else Kröner Senior-Professur verstärkt.
