Relationships between executive and motor functions and academic performance in children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)

Children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder often exhibit motor difficulties in addition to inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity, which are linked to deficits in executive functions. Handwriting, as an aspect of motor skills, is also frequently impaired. These challenges negatively affect academic performance and can have adverse consequences for social participation and mental health. The project investigates the relationship between executive and motor functions and academic performance more fine-grained. Furthermore, the effects of a combined intervention of methylphenidate and cognitive-motor dual-task training are being studied. The goal is to mitigate academic deficits early and reduce the risk of further mental health problems.
