Mortality in intensive care patients with liver failure, rhabdomyolysis or severe inflammation is high despite modern intensive care therapy. In these patients, the use of a special adsorber (=Cytosorb®) could be helpful in addition to standard therapy, although adsorption conduction and saturation kinetics for relevant substances in vivo are not yet known. This study investigates this by taking blood samples before and after the adsorber at different time points and determining various parameters. Mathematical models are used to determine the adsorption performance and saturation kinetics for various substances. In order to evaluate the success of the therapy, patient-related data and laboratory parameters will be collected and analysed.
