This project aims at identifying genetic variants that are gene-regulatory active in liver tissue after cellular stimulation with glucocorticoids (GC). The metabolic pathways in liver cells induced by GC are important for a variety of diseases, in particular metabolic diseases. For this purpose, liver tissue will be stimulated with GC. The level of gene expression will then be correlated with genotypes of genetic variants. All identified gene-regulatory variants will subsequently be compared with existing research data on metabolic diseases. In this way, the results should contribute to the elucidation of the disease processes of metabolic diseases.
