Healthcare support to internally displaced people in Vinnytsia oblast, Ukraine

Situation:
The war in Ukraine is ongoing for the third year, causing, among other, massive migration of the population from the areas close to the frontline, to relatively safer regions in central and western parts of the country. The influx of the displaced people causes overloading of the public services, one of which is healthcare, which is currently overstretched and cannot cover all the needs.
Objectives:
Supporting vulnerable IDPs in Vinnytsia Oblast, through provision of access to primary healthcare services and improving healthcare-related capacities of the local protection system.
- 3,000 internally displaced people in Vinnytsia Oblast received primary healthcare-related support
- 2 social/protection facilities that assist/host IDPs in Vinnytsia Oblast, are supported with medicaments and medical supplies
- 12 social/protection facilities that assist/host IDPs and vulnerable local population in Vinnytsia Oblast are supported with assistive devices and non-medical items.
- Direct provision of primary healthcare-, sexual and reproductive health-, and psychological consultations to the targeted vulnerable population.
- Delivery of the necessary medicaments and medical supplies to the social care and protection institutions, providing healthcare services to IDPs.
- Delivery of the necessary aids and non-medical items to the social care and protection centres that look after/receive internally displaced persons, among others.
The project support has more of a life-saving emergency nature, closing part of the gaps in the local healthcare system and preventing it from collapsing. The project activities cover the needs of the most overlooked/de-prioritized vulnerable people, allowing the public system not to overstretch already limited resources, and giving the system more time to stabilize/recover.
Supporting healthcare-related capacities of the social care / protection institutions, to ensure holistic approach to the healthcare system in the project areas.
