Else Kröner-Fresenius-Zentrum für Klinische Forschung

In accordance with the recommendations made by the scientific council “Perspectives in University Medicine”, the Else Kröner-Fresenius-Stiftung foundation has invited tenders for an Else Kröner-Fresenius Centre for Clinical Research.
Prof. Dr. Michael Madeja, Wissenschaftlicher Vorstand der Else Kröner-Fresenius-Stiftung

The foundation is making a total of up to EUR 40 million available to an institution of higher education over a period of 10 years towards establishing a profile sector that is supposed to be continued after the funding has ended. The funds are supposed to be employed towards improving research resources and the creation of innovative, research-supporting organisational structures in university medicine in order to strengthen an existing and/or establish a potential interdisciplinary area of focus in world-class international research.

The 27 draft proposals submitted were assessed by expert international appraisers from April to June and evaluated by a jury comprised of high-echelon representatives from the medical science, funding and advisory consulting landscape. On the basis of their findings, the Foundation Board at EKFS decided early in July 2018 which 5 faculties are going to be allowed to enter the next round with a full proposal by the end of the year. The ultimate decision as to which faculty shall receive the funding is scheduled to be taken by mid-2019.
